What The Heck Is Gluten?
Kudarat was created 2 years ago as a solution for a major problem. That “problem” is controversial; it gets people all fired up. Even sweet grandmas might come at you with a sawed-off shotgun or a shovel. My own family has argued with me and called BS. But, it is very real, very serious, and chances are, you are one of the 1 in 7 (probably more—they just haven’t been “recognized” yet) people in the US that have this problem or you’re headed there.
So, what am I talking about? Gluten. Yes, that. NO doubt you’ve been given an incomplete and to be blunt, wrong definition of what gluten is. You’ve also probably read somewhere (everywhere) that you never have to even give it a second thought when it comes to your skincare and other personal products because you’ve been told that gluten proteins are too large to be absorbed by the skin. I’m here to tell you that not only is gluten likely hiding in plain sight in your personal care products, but it is also something you do not want to come into contact with. Ever.
This is the first in what will be a series of articles about this topic. We have to change the paradigms revolving around this subject. I don’t want you to ever have to go through the hell I’ve been through. So, let’s get started.

ALOE.
ALOE (ALOE BARBADENSIS)
Aesthetician Kim Chang says – “Aloe contains antioxidants, enzymes, Vitamins A and C, and it is highly anti-inflammatory. It can help treat burns, acne and dry skin.” Chang added that when it comes to acne, Aloe Vera works best on superficial surface acne rather than cystic or deeper acne.”
“The enzymes in it can also help exfoliate the skin to make it smoother, but if you are looking for something stronger I would recommend using a grainy exfoliator paired with a pure moisturizer,” – Kim Chang

POMEGRANATE.
POMEGRANATE (PUNICA GRANATUM)
Pomegranate arrests ageing. Being rich in antioxidants, pomegranates neutralize the effect of free radicals in our body. The anti-ageing plant compounds in the fruit also help in stimulating keratinocyte cells (skin cells) and help in cellular regeneration thereby keeping wrinkles and sagging skin at bay.
JASMINE.
Jasmine (Jasminum officinale)
Jasmine is rich in a variety of active chemical components that are beneficial to the skin.
- Anti-aging: Because of its antioxidants, jasmine can help protect from environmental stressors. This can help give a youthful appearance to your skin.
- Even skin tone: Jasmine can help. The oil is very effective in evening the tone of skin as well as reducing the appearance of age spots.
- Moisturizing: Like many natural oils, jasmine oil helps treat dry skin and provide natural moisture that won’t clog pores.
- Non-irritating: Jasmine Sambac, a variety from Hawaii, is perfect for those with finicky skin temperaments, as it’s non-irritating and non-sensitizing. It’s also great for dry, greasy, or sensitive skin, as it helps to balance all types without irritating.
- Natural scent: We can’t deny the lovely scent that this flower has—so adding it to skin care helps to pick you up as well as nourish your skin.

CUCUMBER.
CUCUMBER (Cucumis sativus)
Cucumber, according to dermatologist and psychiatrist Amy Wechsler, cucumber has skincare benefits including vitamin C and caffeic acid, which both fight to reduce inflamed or irritated skin, and hydration thanks to its high water content. The peel itself contains silica, which firms up sagging skin.

IMMORTELLE.
IMMORTELLE (Helichrysum)
Immortelle can be used frequently to help sustain smoother, more radiant and youthful-looking skin… Not only can Immortelle oil help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, but it can also help reduce the appearance of blemishes.
